In the Rules section, you have stated the Standard Settings, but then you said "if the two teams can agree"
Does that mean a team can contest the settings? Cos that could take a long time at the start. Can I suggest you make the game settings non-negotiable?
The Standard Settings are good by the way, don't change them :D

Hey Shindog,
Just wondering if it is to late to enter a team in for the tourney. Was origionaly going to have to pull out cos my mate had to work, now he got a doctors certificate he doesnt have to work, and now we have a team.
Is it to late? If you could post a reply to this or give me a number to contact that would be sweet, cheers.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear
In some major US Halo tourneys, players stick little timers to the sides of their screens to time weapon and player respawn times.
It's a pretty stupid way to play, but I figure if anyone at this tourney is using them, It'd give me an idea of what we're up against.
Btw shin, my mate and I are coming by the workshop later tonight to put in our rego :D

nah they use them to time exactly when weapons and powerups respawn, It's a pretty faggy way to play, so I hope no one uses them at this tourney.

Sorry about that its just, I could understand if my name would be mistaken for something else. I would be a little upset! maybe... but my brother is just coming to watch but i don't want him running around some where else coz i don't want to have to worry and stuff! So if he can just sit in the arenas than thats cool!

P.s Banjo Kazooie, Mario 64 (fav.), Harvest Moon64, Smash Bros., Diddy Kong Racing, Castlevania, Star fox (fav.), 1080. snowboarding, Cruis n' usa, Mario Party 2 and 3, Zelda 1 works but when you go in to your hut at the start it is really wierd graphics glitch, but hopefully you guys well get an even better N64 update, (hope).
These are some of the games i have tested and all were tested on 1964 on the new sereal emulator. They almost work flawlessly.
If i test more, i'll post more! if you want ok shindog! otherwise i'm going to shut up now!

we have now dispatched more rego packs than the number of teams we can accomodate for this event, so atm registration will be awarded on a first come first serve basis, also check out the schedule and let me know what team 'number' you want, as you may like the time slots over different ones.
social play confirmed!
The singles event is officially replaced with a 'social section'. we will be providing approx 16 xboxes for team entrants warmup use, and if your not in a team you can use the social play section for $15 for the day, you can bring your own stuff if you want to (no tv's bigger than 51cm)

Just been looking around this site as i was told about it, by one of my sisters friends and i was exited about the lan and organised some of my mates and we got a team together. Then i saw on the entrants page that there is hardly anyone even registered.
Not so sure about paying a few days early either i mean i have been to some lans before and never had to pay up front. Regos are an essential but paying on the day would hardly take anytime.
Other than that it looks like a great lan, I am just waiting for my rego pack in the mail

one is fine, if you are thinking about going in the singles event then one each, however we are basically canning the singles event and putting all our focus on the team event, and having a 'social / warmup' section ( see the layout map!) (unless we get some protests, any current registered singles can either have their rego converted to a team or refunded)

we are currently looking at ditching the singles tournament in favor of providing a dozen or so boxes for warmup / social play during the day. If people want this we could provide it at a small extra fee, or we could just leave it as a byo section, check the venue layout (under articles) so you can get an idea what we are talking about!

I don't know what circles you guys mix in, but there have been several notable Halo tournaments in Adelaide before... Halo: Running Riot, Halo: Survivor, The World Cyber Games Halo Comp and the recent ThunderLAN Halo comp. Now, these tournaments were all pretty good and none of them had anywhere near a $100 team entry fee. What's the deal? You guys are funding your retirement? I hate to break it to you, but being affiliated with an 'XBOXmods' site doesn't sound straight up. I'd like to compete, I'll see what my team says (to anyone who was paying attention to the WCG Halo Comp I qualified for the Aussie finals and came second in the WCG nationals in Sydney), but really, the price doesn't sound reasonable and I honestly don't think you will get a large turnout for that cost. Does anyone want to enter into a debate on this? I'd like to be convinced about the integrity of this site before I start paying registration fees.

its $25 only for yourself and $25 for each other memeber so don't have a cry. that is freakin cheap and for a really good day of shooting master cheifs around. Big freakin deal if youve come 2nd in some thing, come and play at the tournament. thats if you can afford it!
I think this a great price! my mate has come third in some other tourney and did i hear him have a cry! NO, so either play or don't play! Sheesh.

thanks shindog, i think the last time we played i used that awfully big xbox controller(original) which gave me movement, button problems but now that i have my favourite controller S, i think thats a factor in my improvement, but we shall see at the tourney! right?

all equipment will be supplied, x boxes, games, hubs , projectors , tvs, clipsal girls, dj, sound systems....we may get a few entrants to provide extra tv's for social play. You just have to provide your own controller.

Got a game type you guys may wanna try out, my mate and i made it up it's called shotty anal choose the prisoner map (one of the smallest maps) only shotguns, no shields, no radar, unlimited grenades(this will only work with 4 or less players halo will not support unlimited grenades with more players). It is pure carnage and really sets the men apart from the mice, tell me what u think

the planned format is 4 player teams (clans?)
a team slayer event! may 30 9-6pm (or till the last kill!)
and also a 4 player slayer pro comp run simultaneously
we have booked 2 large rooms at enterprise house on greenhill rd, unley, so teams can compete without cheating!
plus a dj from fresh fm, and i hear the gTx girls may be making a appearance!
entry will be $25 per head for the team event
we have at least 4 projectors
more details to follow soon but a show of interested parties will be good!

It certainly is time that Adelaide saw the likes of a Halo competition and I for one, will try to get involved in such an event. I would definantly put in a team if it was a CTF comp as CTF offers way more in the way of teamwork and strategy. However, team slayer is still cool (i guess) but what kind of game settings would be involved?
are the starting weapons going to be generic or are we gonna be running around with the snot pistols?
Vehicle settings? Just warthogs? Or is it going to Mech Warrior 4 with tanks and ghosts and crap everywhere?
Please tell me that radars will be turned off too?
Just one more question:
Can the winners claim the title of "Champion of the Universe"??

our main issue with ctf is a time based one, as they can take a long time to complete.
as for tanks and ghosts, there out, radar is off! its warthogs only!
of course if every one else wants different, speak up speak up!

I know what you mean about CTF, sometimes our games can go for for well over 2 hours, And thats to only 3 caps
No radar = Awesome Warthogs only = Awesome Generic Starting Weapons = Awesome

Hey Dude, My name is Nick and saw the ad in the Trading Post. What is the deal as far as equipment goes? Bring your own? TV, Box, etc.... Will there be a CTF game in the tourney at all? I have 3 mates and we play every Friday at the moment and they are interested in this but how many players are registered so far? Will it be worth it for us to get some competition and have a good time? Is it during the day or night? We have jobs to go to and if we are like, "Boss, I'm taking the day off to play video games, Cool Eh?" Boss, "You're fired boy" You know what I mean! we are supplying everything from xboxes, projectors, dj's, seperate gaming rooms, the gtX girls will be making an appearance, its on a sunday, from 9am all day all you need is to bring your fav controller! i havent posted the prizes yet as we are still trying to get some moe stuff from our sponsors..but the xroads/promods sponsors have thrown in a standard xbox mod for all members of the teams event and the single event winner, weve got some calendars and comics from gametraders, dominos' are throwing in some pizzas....reb bull are dodging the issue...etc, just realise it costing us a couple of thousand just to hire the venue equipment and print posters and advertise it!
full details are being finalised and will be set in concrete in approx 10 days!

Don't get me wrong, a free Xbox mod does have some value, but it's not gonna get me or my mates to a tourney.
How many teams are you looking to compete in the event? There is all talk of limited player numbers, but what is that limit?

from my calculations if we play a full round robin tournament where every team plays every other team and we have 6 simultaneuos games happening at once and each game takes 15 mins we can only have 20 teams, thAT is if we want to complete the tournament in around 8 - 10 hours. there is a total of 190 games to be played to rank every team, then followed by a ko session for the top 8, to see who is king!
take it from me we have all ready busted more money than we can possibly make in entrance revunue, we are not trying to fund our retirement we are trying to run a professional tournament that really ranks teams, personally i would up the fee and stick in a bigger prize, none of our sponsors are handing over cash, were only getting goods. if you prefer we could just make it a $5 lan party with no organization. If we get too many entrants you may have to run a qualifying round for entrance...

i wanted to know why you needed the cash 7 days before the comp. i want to go and everything but i have never been to anylan where people pay in advance. people show up and pay. i understand you need to have people registering beforehand thats cool but the cash$$ whats wid that. i have many people who might come to this lan but they say no as soon as they see that you have to pay before. can this be changed it looks like a great lan and i would like to go. also how many teams you guys have i mean i see one regitered and thats your team. you say 8 final teams but do you expect to have more than that at the whole event??

we dont want to be wasting time on the day, and have plenty of other things to organise, you can take the risk of getting a placement on the day but there is a 50% surcharge($37.50), or put it this way theres a $17.50 discount if you pre book...

i just got it today. i must say the rego pack has pushed me toward going to the event but sadly no one in my team looks interested. pity we have some of the best players in the state by world cyber games standard. well i hope youre event runs well.
you must tell me if a team called the "wackas" goes or if a team have some players know as "aphex", "death" or "the force" are there. if they are there u will know it.
