clan clash [ 10512 ] [ Back to Forum ]
We recently heard how a local halo team had waxed our home team after they had booked in for a days halo 2 ing. We gave the better of the 2 teams a couple of games and they beat us on the last game 49 - 50.

Word got around how we had been 'waxed',Of course our excuse was we had to answer phones and repair consoles whilst we played, so we hooked up a more official clan clash.

And I think we held our own pretty well.

What would you say boys?

Anyway if there are any teams that would like to participate in a planned clash. Let us know and we'll see what we can hookup.

Clan Stuff [ 10514 ]
Hey man you may remember me I had a bit of a whinge about the cost of your last tournament. Anyway there's actually some pretty good Halo 2 teams in Adelaide, we run a community at www.xlansa.com, we recently held the Boomtang II tournament which pulled in fourteen 4-person teams. This tournament was held in the Goodwood Community Centre and had a $10 entry cost, there was also a Project Gotham Racing 2 tournament. We're always holding social LANs and that sort of thing, where our members open up their house for a limited number of LANners. We also hold "official" kind of tournaments like Boomtang, and recently the World Cyber Games Tour Stop 8 for Adelaide. Anyway my long and rambling post is meant to draw your attention to the fact that there are plenty of Halo teams in Adelaide, my team in particular Nuke and Pave is always looking for new challengers and we'd be happy to have a LAN challenge anytime. We live a bit South of the city though, so that's probably why we haven't had much contact before. Anyway check out our website www.xlansa.com if you're really interested in some Adelaide Halo LANning.

how could i forget [ 10515 ]
We have a permanent xbox lan setup in our workshop, 12 x 51cm tvs, 6 x 34 cms and a dozen or so xboxes (soon to be expanded). Its all ready to go and we have a high speed dsl line for live and we have an xbconnnect client running also, and this website runs of the same server, so it may get a bit hammered at times.

But with adelaides only? permanent xbox lan setup it should be pretty obvious were serious about xbox gaming.

We run frequent casual lan's that are budget orientated.

So your place or ours?

4v4 of course.

do have the results of your lans recorded anywhere? im interested.

Matches [ 10517 ]
At the moment www.xlansa.com is just a forum, but our website will be going live not too far down the track. That will hopefully have details of some of our previous comps on it. My team's webpage is http://users.tpg.com ... 8opu/, I did that myself and know barely anything of web design, and I'm not coding XLANSA's site, so don't judge on that! Nightwish posted up some stuff about the recent WCG tour stop we organised for Adelaide here: http://www.freewebs. ... x.htm. This was not strictly our own event, we ran it for the World Cyber Games so several things like cost, competition structure and marketing were beyond our control. www.worldcybergames.com

Anyway if we were to have a bit of a LAN match we'd have to find a mutually agreeable weekend, or if you guys have Xbox Live we could easily set it up via that. My gamertag is Solventz. With the LAN we'd be able to host it down this way or at your place, we'd probably prefer to have it at one of our places so we don't have to pay to hire the Xbox Lounge :). But either way I'm sure we could manage it, I may sound like it but I'm not really that much of a cheapskate. I'll get on to my team and see what weekends are available. Also there's another WCG tour stop rolling through in early July, when that happens although there'll be official WCG games taking up some of the day there'll still be plenty of time for LANning so if you wanted to come to that we could play there. WCG charges are pretty steep though to provide the prize money.

Oh and you asked about results of our last tournament: First- Nuke and Pave: Me, Smatt, Fungus, Nightwish Second- Don Burke Quattro: Woaheddie, Woaheddie's Bro, Edge Master, Kaos Master Third- Damage INC: Shock, Manta, Icer, Edgecrusher Fourth- SFW: Venge, Inky, Virus, Lando

wcg fee [ 10522 ]
if you mean $25 is steep you must be pretty hard up dude.

Isn't that what they charge?

seems fair enough to me.

however it does seem a bit so from taking a look at the setup provided at the hungarian club. pretty scabby looking.

I know first hand what it costs to run a largeish tournament and to give it that pro feel, but i could not see any projectors, dj's, nice facilites, models, lighting, etc so yeah well maybe. I heard you even had to cart in all your own gear.

Anyway people around town seem to seriously underestimate the amount of time it takes to organise and coordinate tournaments.

WCG & Tournaments [ 10528 ]
Yeah well I think $25 a head is pretty expensive for a tournament, considering XLANSA charged a mere $10 for its 14-team Boomtang event. I imagine the main reason for the $25 entry though is providing the $700 prize money at each event and the National Finals setup in Sydney, which you don't have to pay for if you qualify in a NQ event or through tour points.

lounge fees [ 10523 ]
the lounge fees are quite reasonable anyway, and if we arrange a out of hours clash then there is usually only a $5 a head charge for the entire duration, which could be up to six hours, unless we are catering, then we share out the food costs.

Anyway, if you beat us on our own turf, i'll buy your pizzas.

so you wan't some free pizza? ;)

Booked [ 10532 ]
Alright we're pretty busy for the next month or so. We could only really do it on a weekend since your workshop is pretty far from us, but we'll def hit you guys up for some LANnage some time. Give us a few weeks I'll be back :). Thanks for the help.
