my xbox was modded back in 2005. it had 'evo X' or sumfin put on it, so i can copy n play copyed games. Now for sum reason it runs sooo slow, BUt was working fine 2 days ago. When the blue X at start up shows takes like 1-3mins for the microsoft logo to show under it, then i have 2 wait for another 1-2mins for menu screen. Then when i try 2 access programs like game manager file it also takes a few minutes. Its really annoying, coz it only used 2 take like 30secs. What is wrong, n how do i fix it without loosing my games and saved games??? please reply asap! cheers!

I ftp a lot to my xbox, but latley i have had trouble
I can stream ok but when i try to copy movies across it drops out,,what have i done wrong

i have a soft modded xbox and i was playing with the settings and unlocked the hdd then the xbox got resarted with the drive unlocked and now all i get is an error screen can the hdd be locked up in another xbox and how?

Will a future version of the gtx dash have an embedded ftp server that runs in the background permanently, much like how xbmc does?

Hi,
I've downloaded and successfully compiled the XBOX media centre (24/4/2005 I think) version. I know its compiled successfully as I have installed it on a friends XBOX whos not using the GTX dash.
However the reason I compiled it was to install on my own XBOX, the problem I'm having is I cant seem to hook it up to the "Media Centre" option on your top level menu.
IT appears the media centre I previously had on my XBO is an older version and lives at E:\apps\xbmp2 so I temporarily moved that dir and replaced with my new version but unfortunately its not that simple as I get a dirt disk error.
I know the media centre is working on my machine as I placed a copy in the games directory and launched it and it worked fine.
What do I need to do to go about switching my default media centre to my new version.
Note I cant go into the store each time I want to do that as I'm playing around with coding up some "custom" changes for my media centre to do some new stuff.
Also the media centre in theory could be used as a default dashboard. Am I right in assuming that you cant do that if I have my XBOX "soft modded" at Gametronix with the GTX dash installed..... looking through the directory structure there seem to be a lot of apps that I cant see sitting in the filesystem ... but would like to find them. I have a DVD full of other Apps that I want to add to my apps menu.

finally got my xbox connected to the pc (our internet server was messing up the IP settings) Now i have a totally different problem. When i go to transfer the game data from the D:/ on the xbox to FlashFXP the D drive does not show the game, i have tried refreshing and still no luck. Could i have missed something? Maybe entered a wrong piece of data? If you could please get back to me i would really appreciate it! thanks MattC

shindog, I recently got my xbox chipped by xroads, I have been having trouble connecting to my xbox, it will connect for a mini second, but then says "connection failed could not read server", or something similar to that. i was just reading your reply to a similar problem and I have all the same I.P, subnet etc set as Nathan did in the other forum. I followed your instructions up to the physical address, which in my case is 00-53-45-00-00-00. If you could help me out, i would really appreciate it. also I was told to upload a game from the Xbox to the computer you need to delete everything on your harddrive.. is this correct or can you have a few games on there? thanks MattC

Hey, I got my xbox modded by xroads.co.nz and its a V1.03 BETA, heaps of games don't work, Max Payne 2, EA Madden 2005, Knights of the Old Republic, Mafia. They all get to a certain point before stopping, this is when I play them straight off the disk and off the hard drive. Is it the version i've got and if so how do I update? Any help would be great

I'm just wondering if it's possible to save the volume level on the dash for the music.
When I reset the xbox the volume goes down to 0.7, I'd like to raise it to 0.9 and save it.
Is there a way?

Hi all,
About the music that plays when the GTX dash loads up, where can I locate it on the hard disk? In the music manager the track is named www.gametronix.net.
Is there a config file somewhere I can edit to put my own music?

I am having problem connecting to my xbox with ftp. For some reason I don't seem to be able to set my IP address. I try to set it through:
Applications ==> File Managers ==> ftp(PC) ==> Settings
I set the IP address as detailed in documentation, save the settings and reset the machine. But when i go back into ftp(PC) the IP: displayed on the skin is blank.
If i go into Media Centre, the IP address in there is also blank.
Am I doing something wrong...missed something....any ideas ??

Shindog what version of the Dash are u up to now?? im having some strange problems again and think maybe its time i update my dash.... You told me before also that you could send me out a disk for a small fee.. is that still possible???

So i have a Mac with an SMB Share:
smb://tige:pass@192.168.0.1/media
My XBOX's IP is: 192.168.0.71
I want to access the media files on my SMB Share on my XBOX. I tried to change the config.xml file inside E:\apps\XBMC
But nothing worked. Help? Is that the file i need to modify for sure? Also, other strange trouble I have been having is that the when ftp'ing onto the XBOX, i notice that some directories are empty sometimes when there are actually files in there.
Just to get a grip on things, the other issue I have is that XBMC seems a bit too slow to start up, 10 second mark. Can I just get a new harddisc wipe it out and get a Dash Board and everything by myself? Also, I am not sure what mod chip I have. Is there a way to find out?

P.S. why doesn't it show the shield and swords after you complete each difficulty on halo 2, like in the first one. I have completed the first one in ledgendary. and it would show the shields on the level select sceen, in the first one.

A friend of mine gave me his 120gig HHD from his Xbox because he upgraded his. What I was wondering is it possible to put it into my Xbox? My Xbox (only 40gig) has the gtX dash and it is TSOP flashed, and the HHD came from a Xbox with Xecuiter 3 with Evo-X on it. Is it possible to replace my HHD with his and if so how do I do this??? If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time in advance.

Had my crystal xbox modded and boosted to 120gig it writes games to the drive ok but am unable to play copied discs on it.

Hey guys,
I noticed that in the GTX Dash there's a built in Trainers Section. I downloaded a trainer for MK: Deception that I'd like to use. It is an EvoX Trainer (*.etm).
Although, I did not manage to find one single dir on my xbox that i could put this file in to run it. Yet there are EvoX Trainers built in that can be used.
Could someone please let me know of how I can run my downloaded trainer, and/or even ohow to expand the list of built in trainers.

Hey, just recently had my xbox done by xroads and its great thanks heaps :) just wondering what use is the browser? I think it would be great to be able to search the web from my xbox on the tv but cant find anyway of connecting to the net. There is not connect option as far as i can see. Can anyone help me please, maybe im just blind but i really would like it to work. all help welcomed. thanks again

have previously successfully uploaded some roms for the mame emulator, but went to upload a whole heaps this afternoon and can't seem to get the box to recognise them. i deleted all of the roms that were already in the folder (i.e. those installed by gametronix) at the same time i uploaded the new roms.
anyone able to help me out?

Hey Shindog, I've just recently lost my whole gameliset, not the games themselves but the rename i gave everygame, ie all the games have reverted beck to being called promod1 promod2 etc etc. This has happened for no apparent reason i just switched it on and thats how it was. Please tell me i don't have to rename all the games all over again...

I have recently got my XBox Xcellently modded - looks and works great. I have connected a Xover cable to my PC & eventually established a FTP session. Problem is that although I can upload to the Xbox at 200k/Sec I can only DL from it at ~20k/Sec. It takes 2 mins to UL a 16Mb Rom but 20 minutes to DL it. This cant be right ???? My PC indicateds Full deuplex connection yet my Xbox only indicated Half duplex connection??? Do I need a hub to get DL speed up or is there another trick?

I have encountered a hitch with this game after copying it, onto the harddrive and playing it till the 3rd mission, when it came up with a message that its not reading the disc, and to take it out and clean it.
What do I do?

Using gtxDash v3.0 what is the best way to get mp3s onto hard drive? Also can you use these as Soundtracks or do you have to rip CDs using the Music Manager to a Soundtrack to use them in games? Where does it store the tracks when you rip em off Music Manager?

This window stays in front however all submenus and applications work underneath it (but it is hard to choose them when the message box is on top of them). This happened after using the DVDRIP to rip Harry Potter Prisoner of Azkaban - which did work. This may just be a co-incidence however..... The system is usuable but I would like this window removed if possible - everything does work that i use - I just cant see what i am selecting on which is a drag.... Thanks.

Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban. When using Game Manager to load this to the hard disk, this error comes up. It cannot be loaded it seems. Is this going to happen with many new games that come onto the market ? Any fix ?

I think the Media Centre application is pretty cool and looks great, however it seems to be quite buggy. I find that the program freezes a fair bit, especially if trying to launch a file that isn't a media file. Do i have a bad version of Media Centre or is this a common problem? If this is my problem is there anything i can do to fix this? should i re-install it? can anyone help?

Does anyone know why the nintendo 64 emulator runs so slow and often freezes on the xbox, is there a newer version of an emulator or do all n64 emulators have this problem?

just to let everyone know, if u have problems with manhunt or rallisport 2 running from burned copy or hard drive check the date and time on your dash board. The date must be set to a valid time (2004) and not the default when u havent set the clock (8087 or something) this should fix the problem

Hey guys, great job on the new dash!!!!! Just a few questions for u. How long untill we can change the skins, or can you do it now??? I wasnt sure because there is no skin changing option on the menu. Also how hard is it to put new programs onto the system, is it like your old dash or is there more 2 it??? Last of all, what the hell is the deal with all these blokes advertising they can sell an ALADIN 64+ chip for $50.00 in the tradingpost this week?? Is the chip better than a flash, what the hell is the deal, and why is it so damm cheep. They say that there is no difference to the chip, than getting it flashed??? What the hell are these lamo backyarders doing to the community???
Anyway, great dash, i will recomend it to everyone i know that has a box!!!!!!!!!!

I also have a problem after i have ripped V8 supercars 2 to the hard drive. When i try and start the game it just remains on the loading page and never actually gets started, however i can play the game direct from disc... is there a patch i can get for this problem??

Hi guys, I have completed my duel dvd drive conversion with no worries. Pic will be posted on www.gametronixx.net soon! Now i need help with putting a multi hub inside of the xbox. I need to be able to plug 5 computers into my xbox so it can act as a server. It looks like it might be quite simple to do, but there are a few things i need help with. No1 fitting it inside the xbox. No2 will my xbox still be under factory waranty? And No3 will it be safe for the kids to use??

Hello fellow xboxers.Just wondering if anyone has tried to put duel dvd drives on an xbox yet. It might sound like a "whacky" idea but i have allready watercooled my xbox and i want more. My idea is to play the xbox aswell as letting my wife watch a dvd on a seperate tv.

I backed up my copy of 007: Everything or Nothing but when i tried to run the game from my xbox without the disc the screen goes blank.
The game works fine from the disc so why wont it work without it?

As i am fairly new to this i don't actually know what an xiso is ???? what do i have to do to make an xiso ??? and is there any other way of getting data froma CD/dvd to xbox apart from xcommander????

Ive tried burning a game to a +r dvd and it doestn seem to work, i even tried burning a heap of divx to one and it could only ready about 1/2 the cd, ive got the crappy thompson dvd drive, is this the problem? or was it a dumb idea to just buy a +r burner? cheers

I can't seem to get my xcommander to read cd-rw or dvd-rw discs and therefore have a lot of problems trying to get data to my hard disk... It reads normal CD's and DVD's but not any of burnt myself. Media Player however seems to have no porblems reading the same disk...i have a phillips drive can anyone help?????
