Forums - XBOX - Technical Help
I have recently got my XBox Xcellently modded - looks and works great. I have connected a Xover cable to my PC & eventually established a FTP session. Problem is that although I can upload to the Xbox at 200k/Sec I can only DL from it at ~20k/Sec. It takes 2 mins to UL a 16Mb Rom but 20 minutes to DL it. This cant be right ???? My PC indicateds Full deuplex connection yet my Xbox only indicated Half duplex connection??? Do I need a hub to get DL speed up or is there another trick?

sounds a bit slow, although we have seen varying performance speeds from xbox networking you should be able to acheive something a little better than that.
anyone else got any ideas?

you need to be running the ftp server to connect via a ftp program. L + R + a is a shortcut from the main menu.
if the network connection is good you will have an ip number displayed in the top right hand corner of the ftp server app.
can you ping the xbox?

what is the ip address of both your xbox and pc
you can get the ip address of your pc by running a command/dos prompt and typing the command ipconfig

Checked my cables. Buzzed them out fine. Did notice I was using a Cat 4 UTP patch cable though, so I made a new using certified Cat5 cable. No Change in speed though. Doh Sure my network card in 10/100 - will have to check. Will also try using a hub instead of X over cable.

Well its not my Xbox. Took Xbox to my mates Running a ADSL Modem/Hub network. XBOX FTP Setup indicated it was now 100/Full duplex connection which i didn't get before. Tried som FTP'ing & holey cow now Im getting peaks of 1700k/sec and average of ~700k/sec. depending on file size & type. No errors on a 4.5G transfer. Thank you very much billy boy. Next thing is try my mates hub with my PC & setup. Let X=X+1

Would you believe both my, what i believe are 10/100 network cards are faulty. Borrowed a new one from a mate and am now getting 1000 - 2700 k/s XBox-PC with a X over cable on my old system.
Let the games begin.
Cheers Tronix
