xbox to pc data transfer problems [ 10441 ] [ Back to Forum ]
finally got my xbox connected to the pc (our internet server was messing up the IP settings) Now i have a totally different problem. When i go to transfer the game data from the D:/ on the xbox to FlashFXP the D drive does not show the game, i have tried refreshing and still no luck. Could i have missed something? Maybe entered a wrong piece of data? If you could please get back to me i would really appreciate it! thanks MattC

xbox [ 10445 ]
have got the connection sorted, the Austar internet was redirecting my connection to the default IP number, and trying to connect through the internet cabel (i think), I had to change the IP address in the internet folder to be able to get it to work, I am still a bit lost with the Game data transfer tho. I have read at least 10 or 12 tutorials on ftp'ing xbox to pc, but i can't find anything anywhere that tells me how to fix the D drive not reading. Also do you have to be in FTP (pc) in the xbox to be able to connect, because that is the only place i can get the pc to connect to the xbox. and as soon as i try to go anywhere else on the xbox the connection is lost. Is there any other way of getting the data from the xbox to the pc? we tried burning a game into F drive and loading it that way, but the Iso program couldn't read it. Thanks for all your help

what iso program is that? [ 10446 ]
if you have dumped the game on the f drive just ftp the folder it is in onto your pc and make an iso with 'simple x iso'. Then use nero to burn that.

The d drive problem is a virtual drive thing.

If you run media centre there is an ftp server option in its settings. you can ftp from the d drive through that.

Media Center [ 10447 ]
Thanks for the reply. We finally got files to come up on D Drive throught the media center, and copied them, iso'd and made a backup. When we put the disk in the xbox Media Center came on from the disk, i think we copied media center to the disk as well as the game data. You can't boot the game, when you start it it oes to media center and when you go into the files all the data is there for the game.....t just doean't start. How do we fix that? Also we do have a DHCP server, so the IP number was slightly off, does the DHCP change the way you backup a program??

dhcp [ 10448 ]
your xbox will get an ip number (address) from the dhcp server.

sounds like what you have done is burn the game data as an iso 9660, ie standard pc format, you can verify this by putting it in you pc cdrom and seeing if you can read the data :)

you need to make an XBOX iso out of the game data then burn the iso you made. I use simpleXiso to make xbox iso's, although there are may other tools that will do the same thing.

are you running a router? [ 10443 ]
is your 'internet server' running a dhcp client?

DHPC [ 10444 ]
We don't know what a dhpc server is... were running a Ftp cable directly from the xbox to the pc. everything that is saved onto the xbox will show, just not the disc in the drive...
