my xbox was modded back in 2005. it had 'evo X' or sumfin put on it, so i can copy n play copyed games. Now for sum reason it runs sooo slow, BUt was working fine 2 days ago. When the blue X at start up shows takes like 1-3mins for the microsoft logo to show under it, then i have 2 wait for another 1-2mins for menu screen. Then when i try 2 access programs like game manager file it also takes a few minutes. Its really annoying, coz it only used 2 take like 30secs. What is wrong, n how do i fix it without loosing my games and saved games??? please reply asap! cheers!

usually that's a problem with the hdd, you could try deleting the contents of the x y and z partition's as sometimes it's a problem on those caching partitions. Ultimately you may need to reformat the hdd or possibly replace it.

hello, can you please let me know ASAP if i can defrag my xbox hdd without loosing games n saves using my computer? or how can i format without with out loosing games? i know you can ghost with pc hdd's? also how and what do i delete of the x,y, and z partition? PLEASE REPLY!!!!!!!!

hey, would it harm the hard drive if i took it out and did a de-frag by putting it in my computer? how and what do i delete of the x,y, and z partition? cheers, please reply!

do you have a file browser on your xbox? you need an app like x commander or some program with a file browser (dvd to xbox?) ... or ftp into your xbox and do it that way.
its not as simple as hooking a hdd to you pc and defragging it as the partition tables are very different.

yeh i think i do hav x commader on my xbox, it sounds familiar, yeh i got dvd2xbox. ill check 2morrow. i dont understand what FTP is?
so what do i do in the x commander folder? or what should i do in dvd2xbox?
but is it possible to fix my hdd with out loosing my games??? thats the part im worried about.
soz for the hassels, but the place i got it modded, was ACME in western australia, is now closed down. n i dont think it worth spending money fixin it unless its cheap 2 do so.
