The Repair Process
"What happens once we give you our console?"
This page was born out of this common question. Rest assured we take great pride in caring for your console and our aim is to get your console back to you as soon as possible! We have summarised it below into 6 main steps.
Step 1 Booking In
The first step once you have decided to have your console diagnosed is to take it to your nearest agent, they have all the stationery required to book in a job. They will take your details, note down the fault and issue you with a docket acknowledging receipt of your console. Each docket has a unique number and we refer to this as your docket number (DN). The console is then packed by the agent and gametronix then has the console collected. There is a fee of $16.50 (as at 4/4/09) to book in your console and have it looked at, this fee is deducted from the repair if you decide to proceed with the job.
Step 2 Gametronix Initial Inspection
Once we receive your console at our workshop all your details are entrered into our computer system and you console receives a unique job number. This is so we can allocate our technicians time to jobs in a somewhat sequential "first come first served basis". This is necessary as we have jobs arriving daily from many different agents and allows us to track your job (ie your faulty console) in our system. We then dissassemble your console and diagnose your fault.
Step 3 Customer Quote
A gametronix representative will contact you once we have looked at your console and have an estimate. 99% our quotes remain firm but occasionaly when going through with a repair we may find some other issue. In this instance you can still opt to back out. we will contact you if any other issues arise before ordering any other parts or spending more labour on your console.
Step 4 Fix It! (or return it)
If you are happy with our quote we will then fix your console, usually we have parts in stock for most common faults, ocassionaly we may be out of stock of some parts. We will endeavour to let you know when quoting if there is a parts supply issue. If you have decided not to repair your console it will be reassembled for return.
Step 5 Testing & Return
Once a technician has completed the repair your console is then tested, if it performs satisfactorly then we pack it and send it back to your referring game store or agent.
Step 6 Collection
Once your local agent has your console they will normally notify you, however occasionaly they may forget, you know approximately when it will arrive from the quote time. If you are making a special trip to collect your console then we suggest you call our workshop or you agent to ensure your console is ready for collection.
Summary
In summary we feel it is well worth while you having your console diagnosed ( of course we are severely biased ;> ) as majority of the time we can have your console up an running again for much cheaper than the cost of a new one. You can always choose not to repair your console if the quote is too high as the fee for diagnosing your fault is very reasonable.
If you should decide to buy a new one we also offer a free recycling service if you have no further use for your console... and remember repairing your old machine is the green thing to do!
