This mornings subway ride was interesting, whilst I initially thought someone had made the plunge and the entire system was held up it became obvious later that they were 'flow controlling' people into the outer subway stations during the morning rush hour because the closer stations people could just not get on the subway at all! Made for one squeezy ride ... bah! sardines have more room that that! This shot is the queue from OUTSIDE the station! |

| Hua ren Jian ! (meet flower guy! .. infact flower guy meet). Over the past 2 years I have got to know flower guy quite well, for possible obvious reasons but other than being a regular client of his business I often stop off for a little chat, he speaks about as much english as I do chinese. His brother has a fruit stall opposite and the apartment ..a hem building site ... is only about 200 metres away. |

The street is full of 'sellers' as Jules refers to them ... there is an entire documentary that could be done on this street alone! Some of the merchants live in their little stalls. Liuliqiao is one of the poorer districts in town but the people are very friendly and I enjoy the sounds and smells of this street very much. It's rare to see any westerners around here and you have to register with the local police station as you are living in an 'urban' area ... where it's harder to keep an eye on you? or where it's harder to watch out for your welfare..... who knows! but you can buy a breakfast pancake with an egg an what not here for 3rmb ... when i first moved in a couple of years ago it was 1.5! |

| Strong winds from yesterday leaving a nice blue sky! The governments central admin building was in fine form for the ASEM conference that was being held. I reckon they could of squeezed a couple more flags up though ;). |
